Total time: 17 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients:
6 Pears
200 g Golden caster sugar
50 ml water
1 tbsp White wine vinegar
1 tbsp Golden syrup
20 g unsalted butter
Recipe:
Carefully push a stick or fork into the top of each pear, and through the core, until secure.
Put the sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil without stirring, then add the vinegar, butter and golden syrup.
Boil for about 10 minutes, then remove from the heat and dip the pears into the hot caramel, turning to coat. Be very careful not to touch the caramel – it's very hot. You might need to tip the pan to make sure you coat the pears evenly. Repeat quickly with the other pears.
Add the sprinkles or glitter sugar of your choice. Leave to set on a tray lined with baking paper for 15 minutes.
